For over 30 years, I have been in the Interior Design business and have established my company, Mantra Design London.

With this experience I feel it's now the right time for me to express my creativity through  my first art collection titled Soul Expressions.

Seema

I am an artist who creates through connecting with my soul, a spiritualist at heart that believes art heals. I have been a creative person since childhood and have always had a sense of  inner knowing that my life would be connected to art.

I start each painting by setting the scene and connecting to my soul through meditation, with ambient music decorating the atmosphere and candles inviting the spirit world.

I create for myself first with an intention to express my innermost feelings, conscious and subconscious. This process enables me to understand my emotions hence allowing me to take the necessary steps towards my healing. I am on a constant journey of growth and evolution that permeates through my art.

Once I feel ready I pick up my paint brush and give myself the permission to create in the moment. I thoroughly enjoy each brushstroke and the mixing of the pigments. I'm inspired by the opportunity to create art that makes me feel a sense of deep satisfaction and enlightenment. ( Other feelings come to me are - Grounded, Healed, Creative, Awe, Surprise, pride - If you need more words)

The creation of art for me is my form of meditation and it offers me guidance and connection to my higher self .As I curate the piece it unravels in front of me, it speaks to me and opens up another world which I now want others to experience.

For over 30 years, I have been in the Interior Design business and have established my company, Mantra Design London.  My company specialises in luxury Bespoke Interiors where I have served people by imbuing their personal and professional spaces.

With this experience I feel it's now the right time for me to express my creativity through my first art collection titled Soul Expressions.

BIOGRAPHY

Throughout my childhood in India, at my core I have always been creative , whether it be through applying henna on my relatives hands and makeup on their faces and designing outfits. I also trained as a classic singer which gave me my first experience of discipline in the creative field. It was something that I had always enjoyed. My imagination was vivid and allowed me to experience my world through my sensibility.

My affinity with colour and pattern influenced me to pursue a degree in textile design which led me at the age of 18 to my first professional role for the world renowned Shyam Ahuja in Mumbai. My responsibility was to curate the most beautiful designs for rugs and furnishing fabrics, merchandising, interior design advice, showroom displays.

But I had a vision to share my creativity in Europe with London being my preference.  On the 7 of April 1992 I moved to the capital city where I began my new adventure working for a fashion label at Harrods where I gained valuable skills in communicating and serving discerning individuals.

Due to the successful period at Harrods I felt confident in my ability to further expand my professional career and secured a high end role with an Interior Design Company Nina Cambell. Here I was incharge of managing, merchandising, and buying for an iconic English designer. I continued to work there for a few years until leaving to have my child. However, my intention was to continue evolving my creativity in some form. Therefore, after a break , I commenced working at Dragons of Walton Street which is globally known for creating the most beautiful spaces for children. My clients were royalty, professional athletes and A list celebrities.

All of the accumulated years in this industry made me extremely experienced in the field, therefore I felt it was now my time to further explore my creativity. I did this by developing a Luxury Bespoke Interiors company specialising in the most opulent of styles. In addition to the birth of my new venture I worked for Rui Ribeiro for 4 years, another luxury interior design company that furthered my knowledge.

At 55, I finally decided to start Mantra design london. The word Mantra resonated with both my Indian heritage and spiritual beliefs.

Although interior design has for long been an integral part of my life, I have always felt as if there was something more to my life’s purpose. I invoked this calling by practising  meditation which then offered me clarity to what was next in my journey.

I began to understand the laws of the universe and the presence of energy. As a result of this enlightening I realised the power of meditation and how it will forever be a significant part of my life.  I believe meditation heals the soul and guides me into a peaceful space.

One day whilst in this peaceful state I heard an inner voice say “Paint” .

So I listened.

I bought myself acrylic paints, brushes, an easel  and painted my first piece of art after 35 years. As I was painting, the process of creativity helped me to heal from personal challenges, and I felt I was transmuting my pain into love and light. And now I feel I want to share this with the world.

Creating art is a spiritual experience for me. I paint through the medium of acrylic on canvas.

Process

When creating my pieces I start by first setting the scene.  This is done by lighting candles, incense and playing ethereal reiki music in the background which assists me in creating a meditative state of consciousness.

This ritual helps to ascend my being into an almost dreamlike trance, enabling me to create art through the core of my heart and soul.

I connect to my higher self and invite my guides, my angels, my ancestors of light  to come through and assist me to channel through me what the receiver of the art needs most. What will help them heal and awaken inner peace.

Once the scene is created and the intention is set, I pick up my brush and start painting. I believe It is almost as if the brush has a consciousness of its own. My style of art is of flow, depicting the energy of love and healing which is the intention I set through my paintings. Once I have completed the piece, I add my signature which is a very simple S.B as it is important to me that it does not interfere with the artwork. I believe I am a mere channeler and my hand is the conduit channelling healing frequencies and vibrations.from the universe. Lastly, I step back to admire and understand what I have created and what message has been channelled through. I unconditionally love each painting and speak to it directly through positive affirmations of love. These intentions are translated into the painting as energetic vibrations which will be positively felt by the receiver.

To me, love is the highest vibration and my intention and soul purpose in life is to help others heal.

Vision

Every painting created is a mystery to me until completion, I let my soul guide me until the very end. The aspiration behind my creative work has always been to serve and aid others, whether it be through my interior design works or my paintings.

Cosmic and galactic influences are present in my art as I believe that although the  universe is vast, it is inside each and every one of us.

Feminine energy or femininity per say is beautiful yet versatile. It is a paradox of sorts. It can be soft yet strong, unassuming yet deadly. It can be used to empower and that is something I aim to do through my art.  Once i learnt the fundamentals of energy healing.
